Monday 15/8/05: Signed the contract with the Indian Landlord for the flat in Russell Square, really nice place with wooden floorboards...im content :) hope its going to be a good start for everything from now on!

Tues-Thurs: BT quoted £100 for installing a phone line! (f*** that) and NTL nor Sky could put a dish or cable through an old protected building like ours so Telewest was the only company left for us to get our broadband, telephone and TV! (so much for telecom competition!)  Bought a Samsung LCD TV Monitor for £235!..complete bargin and pretty good screen... obviously not comparable to the High Definition Sony/Sharp ones...but still, good value for money. :)

Met up with Derek, Chris and their BBC crew at the Casino...not too exciting...but realised if u played chicken and betted £10 (min) on 1st 12 and 2nd 12 etc. in Roulette, your chances r pretty GOOD!...try that sometime when im RICH.

Friday: Rav's birthday: went for a few pints at Spoons, met Michael, Chris, Colin, Danielle, Richard, Michelle Lam there too..pretty good night out...

Saturday: got up at 6.30am to go to Stockport to get move houses.  Uncle Li drove us there in a Van...5hrs there and 4hrs back, finally settled down at around 10pm...gee...that was a LONG day.. Kelvin and Richard came to help me out with the unloading...much appreciated.

Sunday: basketball with Yet, shifting flats, gave keys to my good old landlord, Mr Lieberman and in the process had a 3hr conversation on British politics.... topics involved EU, (his hatred as a Brit whose business has not benefited at all and all the new regulations in place which affected his business  e.g. travel insurance licensing), terrorism (Islam led bombings), religion (its significance in many people's life and a community for people to converge and share ideas and views, not necessarily in the light of God), immigration (asylum seekers, diversity), USA (his son is there in NY, benefits of NHS in due respect and the land of opportunities), John Prescott (over-ruling law by the way of politics e.g. the gypsy situation), tax (waste of space like the Millenium Dome, Olympics etc.), congestion charges and parking restrictions (the authorities are out there to catch u, but the people r too, watching the authorities e.g. the Cafe Maratori near my old flat is a favourite temporary gathering place for Taxi drivers and installed in it is a CCTV looking out at the street opposite, where their taxi are parked illegally for any passing Parking Fine Officers!! LOL), ID cards (how its gonna be another waste of taxpayers' money, however good the technology it is, there'll always be a fraudster who'll beat the system, there are terrorists who get arrested with 10 different ID cards and 6 passports, where did they come from?!)

later, i need a chill and met up with Jian Zhuo for the Chelsea-Arsenal match...1-0 in the end, Drogba's mis-control and lack of co-ordination led to a silly looking goal from a free kick.... overall game: 5/10... very average due to the lack of importance as the only 2nd game of the Premiership season..

Monday: started my reading for finance and daily news updates...clearing my brain and thinking about my future career and life paths...

always look at the bigger picture, shifting out irrelevant information, then focusing on what is key to you and the data that's important to you, analyse, interpretate, evaluate and work hard in getting the right results... until you get this formula correct and that you have taken enugh initiative yourself and balancing it with seeking guidance from others, will you get to success.  NOT EASY. Come practice, determination, resilience, leadership, teamwork, drive, motivation, experience, knowledge, application, focus and tolerance will you become Good.  Then comes compassion, understanding, faith and hope that will make you GREAT.

some good quotes from Winston Churchill:

"We are still masters of our fate. We are still captain of our souls."
"Never give in--never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.''

INSPIRING hey?

another random thought:

we are a blossoming bunch of flowers, the ground has been set and we have roots in good soil, you can say that the worms that plough the earth is your parents who kept you going and maintaining your growth, and the nitrogen in the soil and air been your nutriants.

when you have popped out of the ground from being a seed, the sunlight is the enlightenment and the surrounding environment to be adapted to.  the strongest will survive but you'll fight for your existence.  Competition is strong but if you don't work hard and beat the game, the game will beat you.

you grow and grow, you blossom and open your flower, ready for the bee to come and pollenate you, the inspiration and boost which you always needed.

then, you wilt and die. end of story.  sad hey?

back in Stockport now, tidying up a lot of things, and throwing away a lot of stuff, getting ready to move houses to the new London flat in Russell Square.

It has been a long long time.... into my 14th year in the UK and getting rid of a lot of heritage and childhood memories is quite saddening.... i must not be nostalgic and move on, look forward to settling down with mom in London....

things i used to enjoy as a past-time:

1. Drawing: comics from Shen Dou Shi, jet planes (various transportation), town planning plans, animals and noah's ark

2. Learning Chinese and Mathematics by myself: a lot of primary school textbooks from China and past exercises I have done 10 years ago.

3. Shakespeare plays and poems: think I read all of them and analysed Macbeth for school

4. Reading adventure books (Famous Five, Hardy Boys) and watching AirWolf and tapped tonnes of nature programmes.... you know what, I could have been an artist, biologist, urban city planner, peace campaigner or actor but no, I chose to be an investment banker....lol... such the irony of life.

5. Sports: Volleyball, footy and rounders...when i got older and bigger, hockey, tennis and then finally basketball....
